mice. Here is the story.

mice. A cat heard of this and said to itself, “That’s the
place for me.” After that, it went off and took up its
quarters in the house. It caught the mice one by one and
ate them.
What happened then? At last the mice couldn’t
tolerate it any longer. Can you guess what they did?
Yeah, they were determined to take to their holes and
stay there.
“That’s awkward,” said the cat to itself. “The only
thing to do is to coax them out by trickery.” It considered
a while and then climbed up the wall. Well, it let itself
hang down by its hind legs from a peg and pretended to
be dead.
Um ... do you think that the mice fell for the trick? By
and by a mouse peeped out and saw the cat hanging
there. “Aha!” it cried, “You’re very clever, Madam, no
doubt. However, you may turn yourself into a bag of meal
hanging there, if you like, yet you won’t catch us coming
anywhere near you.”

I have a good story for you. This story is about
a
(1) landlord who had an old donkey.
One day, the donkey fell
into the landlord’s well.
The landlord heard the donkey braying so
loud that a (
2) passer-by might hear it and help it get out of the
well.
After a while the landlord sympathized with the donkey, but
he thought that neither the donkey nor the well were worth the
trouble of saving. Instead, he called his men and told them what
had happened to the donkey. He then ordered his men to help
haul dirt to bury the old donkey in the well and put it out of its
(3) misery and they began doing it.
Having realized that a few people had hauled some dirt into
the well, the donkey
(4) initially became hysterical! But as the
landlord and his men continued shoveling and the dirt hit its
back, a good idea struck the donkey. It suddenly dawned that
every time a
(5) shovel load of dirt landed on its back, the
donkey would shake it off and step up!
Yeah, every time the dirt landed on its back, the donkey just
shook it off and (6) stepped up. The donkey repeated these
actions again and again, although it felt so painful and
(7) distressed by the situation. The donkey fought its panic and
turned it into a new spirit by “shaking the dirt off and stepping
up”.
It wasn’t long before the old donkey, (8) exhausted, stepped
successfully over the wall of the well! You know what? What
seemed likely to bury the donkey actually helped it, ... because
of the manner in which it handled its adversity.
Well, that’s life. If we face our problems and respond to them
positively and refuse to give in to panic, (9) bitterness,
or self-pity, the (10) adversities that come along to harm us
usually have within them, very true potential to benefit us!
